Cefaly Technical Guide

Cefaly

Q. How does Cefaly really work?

The Cefaly Medical Device serves to generate small electric impulses that set to work on the nerve cells that are affected in a headache or migraine. The electrode covers the middle of the forehead, and sustains a steady link between the nerves with the electric impulses it generates, thus serving to relax the area. Through this method, migraines and headaches are eliminated.

Q. What is the focus of Cefaly?

Cefaly gets to work on the large number of nerve cells in the frontal lobe of the brain. Physiologically speaking, only two particular types of cells will react to electrical stimuli, (muscle cells and nerve cells).

It is nerve cells that are affected by pain, and thus the ones that cause pain during a headache or migraine. Cefaly focuses its attention upon the nerve cells, therefore upon the nerves themselves.

Q. What nerve does Cefaly focus on?

Cefaly sets to work upon the Trigeminal Nerve, the most fundamental nerve in the head, and one that is affiliated with the headache. Cefaly travels immediately to the main part of the Trigeminal Nerve. Through the electrode, Cefaly sends particular electrical impulses, made to manipulate the trigeminal nerve using two vital mechanisms:

  • Endorphin production mechanism:

Cefaly is designed to foster the endorphin fibres of the trigeminal nerve, and in turn, increase the production of endogenous endorphins. These are neuro-hormones that create positive sensations and a feeling of well-being. Increased endorphin levels will reduce the number of painful attacks.

  • TENS Mechanism ‘Gateway Control’:

This mechanism serves to manipulate and foster the touch sensitivity fibres of the Trigeminal Nerve with high frequency stimuli. In addition, it partly intercepts the pain attempting to enter the nervous system. Cefaly incorporates the TENS technology. TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. It is a long established method, renowned for efficiency, and low level side effects.

Q. What are the benefits of using Cefaly?

Cefaly offers its users many benefits including, but not limited to:

  • The Cefaly and its Anti Migraine ability serve to prevent excessive use of analgesics that can have very negative long term effects.

  • Headaches can increase in severity, often occurring daily. It can be an endless cycle with the number of attacks increasing, thus maximising the intake of medication, which eventually lose their effect.

  • Cefaly will serve to break this cycle. In a matter of weeks, the number of drugs taken will be decreased dramatically, as will the recurrence of episodes.

  • Cefaly is not harmful to users, and very safe. Its safety features have been proven in a number of tests and clinical trials. In addition, the anti-stress and relaxation programme is designed to treat stress and anxiety.

I primarily use your machine to help my chronic migraine and it is very successful indeed! I go on my annual pilgrimage to Lourdes in May that all my friends will think I have enjoyed a miracle, with no more migraine (which really IS a miracle to me)!
